  • July Meeting

Minutes are posted to the Minutes page

Here is the materials list for the July workshop.

Improvisational Slice and Insert Table Topper

    Approximately 23” x 42”

    Fabric Requirements

    • Background/border: 2 yards light (solid, or nearly solid for a crisp, modern look)
    • Insert fabrics: (4) ¼ yard cuts or (4) fat quarters
    • Batting: 26” x 46”
    • Backing: 28” x 48”
    • Binding: 3/8 yards

**To help achieve a modern look, I selected solid (or nearly solid) fabrics for my inserts with only one bold print. I used predominantly green for the inserts, adding a bit of bold raspberry as an accent. The same cream fabric is used in the blocks and the border. This allows the negative space to flow in and out of the individual blocks causing the block structure to nearly disappear.

    Supplies for Class

    • rotary cutter with a sharp blade
    • rotary cutting mat
    • 24” rotary ruler
    • approx. 6” x 12” rotary ruler (doesn’t need to be exact size, just something smaller than the 24”)
    • sewing machine in good working order
    • neutral sewing thread or thread that matches your fabric
    • pins
    • pencil and note paper
    • seam ripper and scissors
    • iron and ironing surface, optional – there will be one available, but you will press often and a pressing space near your machine will come in very handy
    • extension cord and/or outlet strip

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

  • Donation to the Saint Regis Cat Palace

Thanks to members who contributed to the Cat Palace, Barb and Bob delivered the wonderful donation of the following:

    130 lbs dry cat foos

    Big bag of cat treats

Couple bags of towels, cleaning cloths, sheets

And Pauline gave us a bunch of her practice quilt sandwiches that Barb sewed into 12 edge-finished cat sleeping mats. All in all a good collection for the kitties.
