AQG Members Win Awards at Vermont Quilt Festival 2012
Each June, New England's largest quilt festival, the Vermont Quilt Festival, takes place in Essex Junction, Vermont. Thousands of spectators view the three day show that draws contestants from throughout the United States, Canada and several foreign countries.
Congratulations to Donna Hastings and Barbara Singer for their award winning quilts at VQF 2012.
Donna's quilt "Tornado Outburst" won the "Weather Patterns" Challenge sponsored by Sew Batik, a quilt shop located in North Dakota. The challenge was created in response to last year's devastation wreaked by Hurricane in Vermont. Contestants had the option of entering their quilts into a silent auction with the proceeds to benefit "Winter Warmth Project" founded by former VQF director Pamela Druhen. The goal of this project is to provide a quilt to every person in Vermont who lost their home due to Hurricane Irene.
Barbara's quilt "The Sentinel" won a blue ribbon in the miniature quilt category.
Photos of both of these quilts can be seen in the Award Winning Quilts Photo Gallery of this website.
